Henry Fountain Ashurst (September 13, 1874 – May 31, 1962) was an American Democratic politician and one of the first two Senators from Arizona. This was his Flagstaff home. Quite an orator, he was known as Five-Syllable Henry. Largely self-educated, he served as Coconino County District Attorney and member of the Arizona Territorial legislature before joining the U.S. Senate. Ashurst Auditorium at Northern Arizona University is named for him. See http://www.cal.nau.edu/ashurst/about.asp for more info on this colorful Flagstaff character. The house is at the corner of Park and Aspen across from the Federated Church parking lot.
Thank you for the historical information.
